Patch 3.3.2!

The patch is here and one thing is very clear: Blizzard is helping us with speed runs through dungeons entered through the Looking for Dungeon tool. Such treats begin after the first note…

Frostwing Halls, the final stronghold of the Scourge and their Lich King, has been added.

Hooray! Unfortunately, my guild isn’t quite there yet but we’re this close to doing it all when we combine forces with other guilds.

Brann Bronzebeard has been getting into shape and now feels comfortable walking faster when escorted.

Ah, this is good news. Waiting on that fellow is a stumbling block to speed running this in a Random. See what I did there? A Random—the LFD tool has changed enough of how we play that a Random has become part of our speech, meaningful as a method to get precious emblems. Anyway…

The Spell Reflect ability has been altered on several creatures. It now has a cast time, only has 2 charges, and has a 75% chance of reflecting spells.

Well, this is good news but it’s easy enough to get around reflection by using AoEs instead. I question why it’s 75% though. That’s still high enough that you have to either stop casting, use AoEs, or employ some other tactic, so why not keep it at 100%? Or drop it to 25%? What does 75% do?

Anomalus will now use the Create Rift ability only once, down from 3 times.

Ah, this is good news because Nexus takes long enough as it is. It’s all about the speed runs, yo!

Players can now zone back into the instance if they are dead while encounters with Krick and Ick or Forgemaster Garfrost are in progress.

I tell you what, Krick & Ick doesn’t seem like a boss encounter. I know intellectually that it is, but it really doesn’t feel like it. It’s too quick, smooth, easy, and doesn’t have a lot of tactics (from a mage’s perspective). Stay out of the fire (and explosions) and you’re golden. I haven’t seen many deaths during the encounter but this is still convenient.

Skadi the Ruthless can now be removed from his drake with 3 harpoon strikes, down from 5.

Oh gosh, this is good. This will enable us to get him down at once instead of going through multiple waves. Now, we’ll not always be able to get enough harpoons and bring him down the first go through, but this should make it much easier.

Svala Sorrowgrave now casts Ritual of the Sword 1 time during the encounter, down from 3.

You don’t need to do this boss at all—she won’t leave the chamber she’s in. And, if you’re well geared you can get her down in two rituals. Still! This is a helpful time saver for those who need those extra badges.

The time between a boss being defeated and a new portal opening has been decreased.

Excellent! This waiting is the primary extender to this instance.

Fixed a bug where players with Raid Assist capabilities were unable to perform a Ready Check.

This comes up a lot so I’m glad it’s finally fixed.

Tier-9 Sets: The Aspirant vendors at the Argent Tournament grounds have worked out a deal with merchants in Dalaran so that all item level 232 set pieces will now be available on armor vendors in the city. Set pieces which require trophies will still be available for purchase only from vendors at the Argent Tournament grounds.

Excellent! I’m all for ease of commerce.
