Ruby Sanctum, a new raid dungeon
Blizzard’s busting out a new raid dungeon with patch 3.3.5 called the Ruby Sanctum.
What’s in it for mages? Let’s find out after this brief description:
The Ruby Sanctum
A powerful war party of the Black Dragonflight, led by the fearsome Twilight dragon, Halion, have launched an assault upon the Ruby Sanctum beneath Wyrmrest Temple. By destroying the sanctum, the Black Dragonflight look to crush those that would stand in the way of their master’s reemergence into Azeroth and to ultimately shatter the Wyrmrest Accord – the sacred bond that unites the dragonflights.
The battle that is to come will surely deal a crippling blow to the Red Dragonflight, however, it is up to you to stop this unprecedented offensive and defend the Ruby Sanctum. First you must face the assault of Halion’s servants, Saviana Ragefire, Baltharus the Warborn, and General Zarithrian, before squaring off against Halion the Twilight Destroyer, a new and deadly force in this realm.
The Ruby Sanctum will feature 10- and 25-player content, Heroic difficulties and all-new rewards!
Rewards, you say?
And what new rewards might those be? Let’s take a look…
MMO-Champion suggests the following:
- Chamber of Aspects 25 Nuker Trinket – Your damaging spells have a chance to grant 763 spell power for 15 sec. (Twilight Flames)
- Chamber of Aspects 25 Heroic Nuker Trinket – Your damaging spells have a chance to grant 861 spell power for 15 sec. (Twilight Flames)
I’m sure they’re using placeholder names. 😉
We’ll need to find more information about the other abilities these trinkets have (it’s never just one, don’t you know) but +861 spell power is a rather substantial amount—especially if you can combine it with cooldowns.
Things for us to do
And among the abilities of the boss monster, Halion, is this tidbit:
Engulfs an enemy target in flame, dealing 4000 Shadow damage every 2.0 sec. Every time Soul Consumption deals damage, it generates a Mark of Consumption charge on the target. When Consumption fades or is dispelled, it unleashes a dark explosion proportional to the number of charges present at the time.
This likely means more decursing duty for us, since it seems this will be de-cursable. Of course there’s no way to tell now but it’s something to keep in the back of your pointy hat as 3.3.5 gets closer and we hear more about it.
Regardless of the specifics of the rewards or our duty as mages during the boss fights, I’m very much looking forward to this new raid dungeon. I wonder where it will be and what it’ll be like in the inside.
