BlizzCon 2010—are you going?
BlizzCon will be returning to the Anaheim Convention Center on Friday, October 22 through Saturday, October 23!
Well, nuts. Remember when there was a strong rumor, later pretty much debunked, that it was going to be in Las Vegas? I was rather hoping it would be in Las Vegas for two reasons. First, I’ve never been to Las Vegas and second the John Wayne International Airport was an awful experience last time. Namely, it seemed to be a building without air conditioning in the summer. Bleah.
Don’t know if we’re (spouse and I) going this year or not, to be honest. Rather depends on a lot of things.
However, we went last year and had a ball. There were some downsides: An extreme amount of standing on concrete, which was unpleasant, and the line waiting to enter the convention hall on the first day was a touch horrific, standing in the sun in a parking lot for hours.
And as far as breaking news was concerned everything we learned at the con itself during the presentations was learned just as fast—with pictures no less—by the multitudes of WoW sites out there so there was no special or particular advantage to being there in person, other than hearing things minutes before anyone else. And the things we wanted to buy at the convention were sold out by the time we got there, which was a bummer.
Hmm. Sounds like I’m talking myself out of going…
But it was still fun. We had a ball playing the Cataclysm content they had, as well a playing Diablo (didn’t bother playing StarCraft and played more Cataclysm instead).
Now that we know what it’s like we know not to try to get in when the convention opens but wait ’till say lunch time so we can avoid the horror.
Oh, and there’s the matter of getting tickets. We failed to get ’em through the website last year and had to get ’em through a Blizzard employee, who was a friend of a friend.
So, yeah, kind of a toss up 50/50 who knows depends kind of situation as of this writing.
What about you?
Are you going this year? Or is it too early to say without knowing what they’re going to be showing?
