  1. Kind of a dumb question, unless they mean the entire raid is add-on free. The people using add-ons often have to tell the add-on puritans when to do stuff and where to go.

I don’t get all the add-on business in our guild. People act like the game as-is is some holy, incorruptible, perfect thing, when Blizzard has been incorporating innovations from the add-on community for years.

But yeah, snarky question, no doubt from an add-on puritan, so the humor is probably lost on me.

PS: Is Ventrillo/Teamspeak an add-on? Why is that acceptable?

  2. Who is this ‘they’ you speak of? ‘Tis my own question, it is!

    >The people using add-ons often have to tell the add-on puritans when to do stuff and where to go.

‘Have to’ is hyperbolic because one can definitely run a boss fight without addons. Do they make the fight easier? Sure. Are they necessary? No, they’re not required to complete the task.

    >I don’t get all the add-on business in our guild.

All the? The only ones I know who tend to eschew addons are myself and Khatee, and considering when Khatee complains of low frame rate I suspect her reasoning is as much because of her system’s limitations as anything else.

    >no doubt from an add-on puritan

    Nope! I run addons.

    >so the humor is probably lost on me.

    I s’pose that’s good since there wasn’t any intended.

The reasoning behind it was my wondering whether anyone thought running a boss fight sans addons would be fun enough and challenging enough to warrant an achievement.

    >Is Ventrillo/Teamspeak an add-on? Why is that acceptable?

Sure but at the same time not, it’s more of a separate thing since it has utility outside of the game. I’ve used it just as a way to talk without WoW being launched.
